Best Impression of a Prairie Dog: Kristina. After passing a chest-level serve, you realized that the next serve had the same trajectory. You ducked incredibly quickly and the ball sailed over your head, earning us a point.
Best y=mx+b: Nicole. They were covering your angle shot and you turned and hit line and no one was there to cover.
Best Whiffle: Jolie. It was the first of many points, but definitely the most off-speed shot.
Best Squeak Maker: Victoria. You hit a serve so hard, that when it bounced off her shoulder, she squeaked in surprise.
Example of Opposites Sticking Together: Kristina & Jolie. Last tournament, Jolie hits an ace to win a set… This time Kristina hits an ace to win a set!
Best Mid Air Adjustment: Elsie. You jump to get a ball, but it is too low, so you jumped, pulled your hands down and still got the ball up! Great body control.
Best Overpass Kills: Jolie and Julia.
Best Digs in Transition: Jolie, Nicole, Elsie. They tried so hard to beat us with soft stuff, y’all said nope.
Best Libero Impression: Julia, for playing great defense and setting when Jules got the first ball.
Most Impressive Dig: Elsie. Their big outside WHALED on the ball to the inside of our block. You were in perfect position as our front row outside to dig the ball and unflinchingly passed it perfectly to Jules. Wow, just wow.
Best Imitation of an Overhang: Jordyn.
Best Hard Angles: Elsie, Julie. Super hard angles to save the point, barely inside of the antenna and over the net.
Best Ghost Block: Camilla. You blocked the ball, but they didn’t think it happened, so it recognize it until it fell in.
Fist Saves and a Beauty: Jules and Kristina. In 2 separate instances, you were running to get into position but the ball decided to go in a different direction. You stuck out your fist with enough strength to get the ball up. The Beauty of these hits is not that you used an unconventional means, but rather you did it without potentially interfering with someone else. Nice court and situational awareness.
Best In Rhythm Hit: Camilla. Your timing was great! Your approach was very very good. Next time you’ll crush the ball.
Scariest Bump Kill: Kristina. You bumped a ball with straight knees, bent elbows and facing the wrong direction that went over the net. They must have been so scared, that they let the ball fall in.
Best Net Kill: Jolie. You hit the ball so hard, that it hit the net and fell over for a point.
Deepest Corner: Julia
Best Aggressive hits: Jordyn. Yes! Hit the ball!!! Aggression out of the middle is key. It can set the tone for everyone. We’ll control all that power and put it generating points.
Best Peg: Nicole. Way to take their setting out of the picture.
Best Stuff Block: Jordyn. You blocked the ball so hard and so completely that the opposing middle basically caught the ball and didn’t know what to do.
Best Pretzel Impression: Julia. Playing middle as a lefty is extremely difficult. Somehow you’re able to contort your body such that even though it is a perfect righty set, you still put a credible lefty hit on the ball.
Best 1 Handed, Open-Handed pass: Jolie. The kill came to your right, you jumped, took control of the ball, basically said, “Here you go” to our libero.
Best 2 player play. Jules and Kristina. Jules took the first ball and passed it up close to the net. Kristina then killed it!
Final award
Best
Boldness: Everyone. Y’all played as a team. When I didn’t play you,
you didn’t grouse… too much, and then you cheered your teammates on.
When I introduced subbing Victoria to serve for Jules, you expressed
your concerns then got excited! Then y’all implemented it! You were
strong and confident without being cocky and obnoxious. All season,
I’ve told you that we had other people cheering us on, right? I hope
that you realize that this past Head Ref does not pass along compliments
very often. Actually, I’ve never seen him do it. The other ref was
going to pay you compliments too. Please know that when you’re showing
the best of yourselves, people notice.
